The Transpersonal Psychology (TP) model uses interactive psychotherapy with transpersonal modalities to integrate the spiritual, social, emotional, intellectual, physical, and creative being into one complete element. It also addresses these six components equally for the purpose of treatment. It strives to discover divinity through our own humanity and is a by-product of a person's growth and development. It enhances the study of mind-body relations, spirituality, consciousness, and human transformation. It sees each character trait and attribute as a garment that shrouds our true essence and assists one in exploring deeper into who we really are. Life is seen as sacred, and people are encouraged to move into compassion and understanding as they see they are a part of the whole and there is no separation between people. TP uses positive influences, rather than the diseased human psyche and our defenses as a model for the realization of human potential.
This technique encourages a person to see their inner capabilities and view themselves in the process of reaching that healthy state that has been achieved by well-respected and successful people in all walks of life.

Cognitive Therapy is a talk therapy that is based on exploring the way clients feel and believe about life and themselves and how those feelings can produce stress, anxiety or fear if they are negative. Through talk therapy, clients examine their thought processes and learn to identify distorted or irrational thinking. Through the client's use of exposure and desensitization in a deeply relaxed environment, they can change their thoughts and emotions to more positive ones. Often the client is asked to keep a journal to keep track of their stress, thoughts, actions, anxiety levels and depression levels, so they can more easily identify the issues.

The very nature of depression often leaves a person hopeless about ever feeling better, yet the condition responds to a variety of psychotherapies. One of the most effective is cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and a recent American College of Physicians (ACP) evidence-based clinical practice guideline (Annals of Internal Medicine, Feb.9) recommends CBT both as a reasonable approach for initial treatment and as an alternative to antidepressants.
“CBT helps you learn how to recognize and modify negative thoughts and behaviors, and your psychological and physical responses to these,” says Dr. Neugroschl. “The underlying idea is that by examining the way you think about yourself and the world around you, you can restructure your thinking in positive ways,” Dr. Neugroschl explains. “This, in turn, will help you address specific situations more constructively.”
CBT techniques include cognitive reframing, which can help you manage negative thoughts by approaching events in a more neutral way. For example, if something happens that you don’t want, you might think, “this shouldn’t have happened, and I can’t handle it.” reframing this into acceptance and realism (this has happened, and now I’m going to deal with it”) is more constructive. CBT patients also learn breathing techniques to help them relax and focus and are often given role-playing assignments during the sessions, and homework between appointments.

The power of the mind is a key component to creating the change you want. You are always experiencing the power of the mind, which refers to your thoughts, attitudes, beliefs, images, feelings and the corresponding physical response that provides meaning and value to the life experience. How you think works for or against you. We use hypnotherapy as the bridge to reach our subconscious mind, where all our beliefs, both positive and negative, regulate how we think, feel and behave. As you change unhealthy beliefs, you can change negative patterns and behaviors easily. The use of imagery and sound in hypnotherapy produces profound levels of relaxation and healing, and guided imagery allows the subconscious mind to practice healthy experiences. Age regression allows the therapist to go back to the trauma in PTSD and release the blocked energy. The client is always in charge during hypnosis and will only use those suggestions that are for his/her positive good.
In the use of Medical Hypnotherapy, imagery affects the body intensely and on deep levels and plays an important role in diagnosis, pain, illness, procedures, and recovery. Mental techniques are customized to your individual needs and circumstances. Feeling more in control of your mind, i.e., your thoughts and mental images reduces the feeling of anxiety and worry. It also has been shown to improve outcomes in most areas, especially in surgery preparation, pain management, and medical procedures.
The authors of Mind Over Matter: Patients' Perception of Illness Makes a Difference (see e-Science News, 1/27/12), state that some research suggests that how a person views his illness may play a bigger role in determining his health outcomes than the actual severity of his disease. According to Greg Meyerhoff and Anne Salisbury, Ph.D., Transpersonal Hypnotherapy works with the four major approaches to issues that can affect our health and well-being.
1. Underlying issues (where we review, understand and relieve childhood wounds around issue)
2. A habit to change (where we become aware of our negative behaviors and adopt new ones around our issue)
3. Personal mastery (where we achieve physical, emotional and mental potential around issue)
4. Spiritual potential (where we expand perspectives, wisdom and see choices and spiritual benefits from change around our issues)

  • Using Conflict Resolution to cCme to Agreements and Solutions
Good listening and speaking communication skills are the foundation for healthy relationships with oneself and others. If you want to be heard, you must communicate without blame and judgment and with truth and clarity.
Carrying those skills into your family, relationships, schools, and groups are essential for building trust and respect. The ability to use conflict resolution skills requires that you hear what someone else wants and values and that you are willing to create a win/win situation. Family crisis situations grow out of unclear feelings, needs and communication skills, as well as the inability to set and keep appropriate limits and boundaries. All outer violence begins with inner violence; when an individual or group will not use fair and honest means to find solutions, they begin the journey to anger, frustration and possibly danger to themselves and others.

Stress, anxiety, grief, negative self-talk and the feeling of powerlessness create most of the illness and paralysis in our lives and keeps our environments scattered and unhealthy. When we learn how to identify and ground our energy, emotions, and fear with powerful tools such as breathing techniques, bio-feedback mediation, EMDR and EFT, we take charge of our lives and find solutions, becoming responsive to our issues rather than reactive. Quieting the mind and becoming aware of our inner environment and it's influence on our daily lives assists us in finding the truths, purposes and strengths to make the healthy, meaningful and joyful changes necessary to heal.

June has worked with EMDR for many years and seen very positive results in removing trauma from patients. EMDR or Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing uses side to side eye movements, tactile stimulation, and or sound to view and release emotional experiences that have been trapped in the nervous system by trauma. Unprocessed at the time of the event, traumatic memories can be held in the body and can keep a person emotionally blocked, fearful or anxious for years. Clients who have experienced trauma can use EMDR to release them and experience emotional distance from the memory. When that is done, they can begin living in the present instead of the past. It is very helpful in working with anxiety, panic attacks and changing personal negative core beliefs that cause distress.

As a practitioner of EFT or Emotional Freedom Techniques - Energy Therapy, June has seen effective and rapid emotional healing. It is being used by psychotherapists, psychiatrists, counselors and therapist of all types. It is based on Chinese medicine, like "Meridian" therapies and is similar to emotional acupuncture without the needles. EFT is used to remove negative emotion, non-serving beliefs, and many physical pains. It can be used anywhere by the client once she has learned the points to be touched and anywhere by the therapist, as the tools are always available. The theory is that all negative emotions are a result of an imbalance in the body's energy system. When used, the client feels a sense of calm and peace, but to get to the bottom of the issue and remove it completely, you would have to work with the therapist to get to the underlying reasons for the issue. EFT requires tapping on various end points of the meridian system and takes only a few minutes to do.
